Sub-sub-series consists of records acquired and accumulated by the Office of the Chief Engineer relating to the Oxford and New Glasgow Railway, 1887-1897. Authorization was received from parliament in 1882 to construct a railway between Oxford Station, Nova Scotia, on the Intercolonial Railway and Brown's Point on the Pictou Town Branch line of the same system. It included a branch from Pugwash Junction to Pugwash Harbour. The Oxford and New Glasgow Railway opened on 15 July 1890 and was declared part of the Intercolonial Railway system in August 1891 (54-55 Vict., c.50). The records relating to this railway consist of a portion of the registered correspondence, 1887-1891 (Vols. 722-723) and agreements, 1887-1897 (Vol. 724).
