Series consists of copies of blank or sample questionnaires and working files for a variety of surveys of finance, industry, manufacturers, services, trade and commodities. These questionnaires relate to activities of Statistics Canada's Business Statistics field, as well as a later successor entity, the Business and Trade Statistics field.
Blank forms for the census of industry (some years named census of manufactures), dating from 1943 - 1968, are found in RG31 volumes 1323-1335. Both English-language and French-language forms are included. The forms address a range of topics including but not limited to manufacturers, mining, forestry, textiles and food and beverages.
Sample questionnaires and worksheets from the Manufacturing and Primary Industries Division (including, more specifically, its Energy Statistics Section, Energy and Minerals Section) dating from 1970-1971 are found in RG31 volume 1691 (formerly 1570). The sample forms and worksheets are in English only.
Sample questionnaires from the Construction Division, relating to construction generally and to power, mining, the petroleum and gas industry, and dating from 1978-1979, are found in RG31 volume 1691 (formerly 1571). Both English-language and French-language forms are included.
A single bound volume of compiled data sets of mines and mineral producer statistics gathered from questionnaires for the years 1924 to 1928, as well as the Annual Reports of Mineral Production for 1925 divided by province or by mineral type, are found in linked accession with BAN no. 2015-00632-X.These records had been maintained by the Manufacturing and Primary Industries Division.
Approximately 0.3 m of working records, dated from 1954 until the 1980s, related to petroleum and gas statistics, are found in linked accession with BAN no. 2015-01152-8. These working records may have been maintained by the Manufacturing and Primary Industries Division, the Construction Division, and/or the Business Finance Division.
Approximately 10.8 m of questionnaires, printouts, and compilations from the 1986 Annual Retail Trade survey are found in linked accession with BAN no. 2001-00666-7.
Approximately 9 m of questionnaires from various services surveys, dating from 1989, are found in linked accession with BAN no. 1997-01018-6. Surveys relate to: auto and truck services, advertising services, computer services, amusement and recreation services, busines services, personal and household services, and miscellaneous services.
