National Energy Audit Program (Canada) : The National Energy Audit Program (NEAP) began in 1981 as part of the National Energy Program. NEAP was a multi-faceted initiative intended to assist industrial, commercial and institutional organizations in Canada in reducing their energy demands. This was done through programs which increased awareness of energy waste and identified areas to improve efficiency of energy use. Grants and on-site visits were two methods used. The program was jointly funded through federal-provincial cost-sharing agreements. It ended in 1983-1984 and was replaced by the federally run Canada Energy Audit Program.
