Biography/Administrative history:

HMCS Swansea : A River Class Frigate, HMCS Swansea was commissioned at Victoria on October 4, 1943. She patrolled the English Channel during the D-Day invasion and was then refitted for Pacific service at Liverpool, N.S. Paid off to reserve in Bedford Basin on November 2, 1945, she was twice recommissioned as a training facility between 1948 and 1953. Rebuilt as a Prestonian class ocean escort, she was recommissioned on November 14, 1957. She served on the east coast until she was paid off on October 14, 1966 and sold for scrap in 1967 at Savona, Italy.
