Series consists of a wide variety of miscellaneous land records. Included in this series are the following records: a timber ledger for Indian lands in Canada West, 1863-1866 (Vol. 657); a report of the Land Committee of the Executive Council on Lunenburg and Mecklenburg Districts, 1790 and a report of the Executive Council on the Grand River Lands, 1843, (Vol. 714); claims of the Moravian, Ottawa, Chippewa, Shawnee, Huron, Mohawk, Tuscarora, and Onondaga tribes, 1814-1826, as well as a sketch of the administration of the Indian Department from 1755, and a return of the Six Nations residing on the Grand River, October 18, 1814 (Vol. 715). Also included are land inspection returns for various townships, town lots and islands including those for: Tyendinaga, Georgian Bay, Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching Islands, Fishcarrier tract in Seneca Township, Thorah Island, Grape Island, and Manitoulin Island, 1835-1865 (Vol. 727); Brantford Township (Vol. 728); for Oneida and Tuscarora Townships, 1844 (Vol. 729); for the Moravian Reserve, the town of Adair, islands claimed by the Alnwick Indians, and lands set aside for the Alnwick Industrial School, 1857-1861 (volume indexed) (Vol. 730); for Lindsay, Albermarle, Eastnor and St. Edmund Townships, 1857 (Vol. 731); for the Credit River lands (Vol. 732); for vacant Crown land, 1852-1860 (Vol. 733); for Tilley and Fisher Townships, islands west of Parry Sound, Howland and Billings Townships (Manitoulin Island), Ouiatchouan Township, the town plot of Shingacouse, Cayuga Township, River Desert, Seneca Township, Colpoy's Bay Reserve, 1860-1869, as well as a report on petroleum prospects on the Moravian Reserve (Vol. 734); and for the Moravian Reserve in Oxford and Zone Townships, 1864 (Vol. 735).
The series also includes a nominal index, n.d. (Vol. 763) and registers, 1867-1875 (Vols. 764-765) relating to the sale of Indian lands (the actual records to which the index and registers relate are missing). Also included is an abstract of letters sent concerning Indian lands in Canada West, 1845-1846 (Vol. 750); duplicate records of land sales, 1847-1878 (Vols. 783-783A); and records relating to the Chippewa Indians' claim to Point Pelee Island, 1788-1801 (Vol. 787). Further miscellaneous records include deeds, petitions and correspondence dealing with Indian lands, mostly in Ontario, 1795-1892 (Vols. 797-799); documents referring to land matters in Ouiatchouan Township, Quebec, 1870-1873 (Vol. 801A).
Also included in this series are such records as a transcript of the hearings of the Commission on Indian Lands at St. Peter's Reserve, Manitoba, 1907 (Vol 1020); miscellaneous documents referring to land matters in Cockburn Island, n.d. (Vol. 1035); for the townplot of Adair, Saugeen Peninsula, 1857 (Vol. 1036); for the Robinson Township, Manitoulin Island, 1889 (Vol. 1037), for the Moravian Reserve in Oxford and Zone Townships, 1857 (Vol. 1038); and for Cape Croker, n.d. (Vol. 1039); and a report on lots sold in Batchewana Bay District, 1914 by George Shaw, Timber Inspector, Thessalon (Vol. 1040).
The series includes land returns for Maniwaki Agency, 1873-1922 (Vols. 10909-10910); for various Indian Agencies in Ontario, 1907-1931 (Vols. 10911-10920); Tyendinaga Reserve leases, 1885-1895 (Vol. 11821); land lease accounts by Province and Agency, 1907-1960 (Vols. 11822-11843); Ontario land returns, sales, leases and timber, 1859-1892 (Vols. 11856-11857); and land sales, leases and timber collections, 1889-1897 (Vol. 11858) and 1934-1963 (Vols. 11859-11863). Also included are location tickets registers and registry books concerning individual land holdings relating to many reserves across Canada (Volumes 11896-11923 and 11971-11972). Volume 12633 consists of miscellaneous documents from Indian Land Records referring to a great number of subjects, mostly agreements, but include also sketches of land, public notice, band resolutions and a survey. The documents were originally part of other accessions. Their provenance has been lost and they have been grouped here in a miscellaneous volume (Vol. 12633).
