Sub-series consists of general operational records from Quebec and Lower Canada. Included in this sub-series are the following records: claims and titles to the "Seigniory of the Lake of Two Mountains"; land grants made by the King of France; land conveyed to the State of New York; land claims of the Indians of Sault St. Louis; land claims of the St. Regis Indians; minutes of Indian Councils; accounts of funds entrusted by Sir John Johnson to P. Langan; a return of expenses of the Department; a return of Indians resident in Lower Canada, 1835; and an act prohibiting sale of liquor to the Indians, 1777 (Vol. 1833); copies of documents relating to the claims of the Caughnawagas to lands at Sault St. Louis, 1849 (Vol. 659); as well as reports, minutes of councils and enumerations of the St. Regis Indians, 1815-1828 (Vol. 785). Volumes 625-627 and Vol. 12620 include correspondence, petitions, cashbooks, commissions and returns. The contents of vols. 625-627 are arranged in chronological order.

(Electronic) Finding aid 10-1 is a computer generated volume list. Records now found in vol. 1833 were originally contained in a volume bearing a different volume number. The movement of the records from that container to volume 1833 occurred only after the records were microfilmed. As a result, the microfilm copy of these records identifies them according to their 'old' designation. Researchers using the microfilm should note that the records idnetified on the microfilm reel as being contained in volume 14 are the records known today as vol. 1833. 10-1
