Series contains records accumulated by Spicer over the course of his university studies in Toronto and Paris between 1952 and 1962. Much of the documentation consists of typical student records, including class notes, essays, exams and administrative files covering all three university degrees. Of major interest are the records relating to Spicer's doctoral thesis, which was an examination of Canadian external aid; these consist of thesis research notes, completed Columbo Plan questionaires, related correspondence, and incomplete drafts, final copies and revisions of his thesis. The textual records are arranged chronologically. The series also contains a portrait of Spicer in pencil drawn on the cover page of a G. Lalo airmail paper block and twelve photographs, including a 1956 graduation photo and casual pictures of student friends in France.
