Canada. Dept. of the Secretary of State. Cultural Affairs Branch : The Secretary of State coordinated the planning between various levels of government and the public sector for special cultural events. Under the Public Service Rearrangement and Transfer of Duties Act (R.S. 1952, cap. 277) and P.C. 156, 3 February 1964, the Secretary of State was designated responsible for: Section 23, of the Canada Council Act; the administration of the National Museums of Canada; and the Centennial Commission. With these additional cultural responsibilities the Under Secretary of State was assigned to assist the Secretary of State regarding cultural affairs (Organization of the Government of Canada, 1st revision, 1966).
