Sub-series consists of eight items relating to the Venerable James Hunter's service as vicar of St. Matthew's, Bayswater, 1867-1882. It comprises: twenty copies of "The Plan of the Campaign," a reprint of a leading article from the "Church Times", the acknowledged organ of the Ritualists (vol. 4, file 83); twelve copies of Church Association Tract No. IV, "The Teaching of the Ritualists not the Teaching of the Church of England" (vol. 4, file 84); four items relating to the Parish of Paddington, Middlesex, viz. an undated "Paddington Parochial Directory", which contains manuscript annotations, including a note of Archdeacon Hunter's institution as vicar of St. Matthew's on 27 August 1867 and statistics of the 1871 census; a note regarding the 1871 census of St. John's Registry District, with an additional note regarding St. Matthew's; a "Statement in the Abstract of the Parochial Accounts..." [of the Parish of Paddington] for the year ending 25 March 1871; and a printed excerpt relating to the Parish of Paddington from the 1871 Census (vol. 4, files 85-86); two letters, 17 January 1871, to Archdeacon Hunter from The Clock Manufactury, Clerkenwell Close, London (vol. 4, file 87); and a private and confidential report (printed), 1880, of the Rev. J.B. Wood of the Church Missionary Society, on a visit to the Niger Mission, (vol. 4, file 88).
