Canada. Canadian Armed Forces. Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. Battalion, 3rd : 3rd Battalion PPCLI was organized on 27 April 1970 from the 1st Battalion, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, when it was removed from the forces' regular order of battle. The 3rd Battalion, PPCLI was part of 1 Combat Group, allocated to Mobile Command and stationed at Work Point Barracks, CFB Esquimalt. The battalion did four peacekeeping tours in Cyprus: from 1970-1971, 1975-1976, 1980 and 1988. In 1980, the battalion was converted from a motorized infantry battalion to a mechanized infantry battalion. Most recently, in 1992, the Patricias undertook a peacekeeping mission to Croatia.. 3rd Battallion PPCLI was moved to CFB Chilliwack and stayed there from 1994 to 1996, then on to CFB Edmonton where it was merged with other divisions to form the now proper 3rd Battalion PPCLI where it still remains today.
