Canada. Canadian Armed Forces. Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada. Battalion, 2nd : After the Second World War the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment of Canada) supplied one company for the 1st Canadian Highland Battalion when Canadian forces returned to Europe in 1951, serving with Canada's NATO contingent. On 10 April 1952 the Regiment again supplied a company for the 2nd Canadian Highland Battalion. On 16 October 1953 these Regular battalions were redesignated 1st and 2nd Battalions, The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada, the Militia component being redesignated 3rd Battalion, The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada. A regimental depot for the Regular battalions was also authorized on 16 October 1953. After several tours in Europe, the three regular Blackwatch regiments were removed from the Regular Order of Battle in 1969. One battalion remained as a militia unit stationed in Montreal.
