Canada. Canadian Forces Base (Lahr, Germany) : CFB Europe at Lahr, Germany was established on 1 July 1970 and encompassed both the Lahr and Baden-Soellingen detachments. The role of CFB Europe was to provide support services for the formations and units within its mandate, along with operating an airfield capable of sustaining tactical fighter and air transport operations. On 1 November 1979 CFB Europe was redesignated as CFB Lahr. In its first Canadian Forces Organizational Order 12.2, 1 August 1980, the following units were attached as lodger units to be supported by the base: Headquarters, Canadian Forces Europe, Canadian Forces Hospital Europe, 35 Dental Unit, Canadian Forces Europe Postal Unit, 5 Air Movements Unit, 4 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Headquarters & Signal Squadron, 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, Royal Canadian Dragoons, 4 Combat Engineer Regiment, 1st Battalion, Royal 22e Regiment, 4 Service Battalion, 4 Field Ambulance, 444 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, 4 Mechanized Brigade Group Military Police Platoon, 1 Canadian Air Group Headquarters, Canadian Forces Europe Communication Group Headquarters, Communication Group Lahr, 129 Airfield Air Defence Battery, 441 Tactical Fighter Squadron, Reinforcement Holding Unit, Europe Detachment, Special Investigation Unit, DND Office of Information, Senior Legal Adviser Europe, at SHAPE, Canadian Forces attached to AFCENT, Canadian Forces 4 Allied Tactical Air Force(4 ATAF), Canadian Forces AFNORTH, Canadian Forces CENTAG, Canadian Forces Personnel attached to NATO agencies, Canadian Forces Personnel on exchange duties located in Continental Europe, Canadian National Organizations relating to NATO, Cadets, Canadian Contingent United Nations Forces in Cyprus (UNFICYP), Canadian Contingent United Nations Middle East, Canada Customs Detachment, CFB Baden-Soellingen, 412 (T) Squadron Detachment Lahr, and HDHQ LLOP Tk Detachment Munich.
