Since its inception in 1900 the Department of Labour has maintained a collection of newspaper clippings on labour and labour-related topics. Created by the Comunications Directorate of Human Resources Development Canada (formerly the Public Relations and Information Branch of Labour Canada), the clippings in this collection cover the early 1994 to mid-1995 period. In addition, this accession contains a small amount of records pertaining to contracts with Canada News Wire Ltd., communications strategy, policy and programs, liaison with other government agencies and non-government organizations, press releases, minister's speeches, publications, and exhibits.
