Series consists of records which document Seymour Mayne's scholarly work in areas such as editing, literary research and criticism, and radio documentaries. It includes correspondence with Irving Layton and John Newlove and working notes relating to "Engagements: The Prose of Irving Layton" (Toronto: McClelland & Stewart, 1972), edited by Mayne.

Also included is correspondence with Ralph Gustafson, Robert Weaver, and Colleen Thibaudeau, among others, and working notes for his CBC Radio documentary, "A.M. Klein: A Portrait of the Poet". There are also annotated transcripts of interviews with Irving Layton, David Lewis, Max Garmaise, P.K. Page, F.R. Scott, Louis Dudek, and Miriam Waddington for this project.

The series also contains a transcript of an interview with Patrick Anderson and the script for Mayne's CBC Radio documentary, "An Interview with Patrick Anderson and Readings of his Poems". Finally, there is a review of "The A.M. Klein Symposium" (Ottawa: University of Ottawa Press, 1975), edited by Mayne, and some of his own reviews of others' poetry.
