Series consists of records which document Seymour Mayne's involvement as editor and publisher of Very Stone House Press, which he founded in 1966 with Patrick Lane, Bill Bissett, and Jim Brown (the latter two left shortly afterwards to start their own presses, Blewointment and Talonbooks). It includes correspondence, financial records, sales orders, mailing lists, address stamp for Very Stone House, and documents relating to the Canada Council, League of Canadian Poets, and Committee of Small Magazine Editors and Publishers, reflecting the day-to-day operations of a small press. The series also contains project files for books published and books considered by Very Stone House.

The project files for the "Collected Poems of Red Lane" (Vancouver: Very Stone House, 1968) hold manuscripts, a book cover, and reviews. Those for Pat Lowther's "This Difficult Flowring" (Vancouver: Very Stone House, 1968) include an early draft, layout notes, mock-ups, an advance copy, a review, and an unpublished selection of poems titled "Whatever Day". Slim files are held for Helene Rosenthal's "Peace is an Unknown Continent" (Vancouver: Talonbooks, 1968) and Lionel Kearns's "By the Light of the Silvery McLune" (Vancouver: Daylight Press, 1969).

There is also material relating to the unpublished works: "I Want to Tell You Love" by Milton Acorn and Bill Bissett, "A Primer (upon the female of the species)" by Michael Levinson, and "The Time Trick" by Peter Huse. Finally, there are miscellaneous manuscripts submitted by Judy Copithorne, Allan Safarik, Charles Upton, John Mills, Anne Stevens, Yvonne Lord, and Sarah Barnes.

Oversize material has been placed in volume 14.
