Series consists of material, contained in volumes 41 to 69, divided into two major areas and dated primarily from 1983 to 1984. The first part of the series, volumes 41 to 50, consists of carbon copies of Roberts's daily diary files of outgoing correspondence. This material dates from August, 1983 to September, 1984. It is unique to the Minister's office.

The second part of the series is contained in volumes 50 through to 67 and consists of block number files. Its general alphabetical arrangement includes dossiers on appointments and nominations, House of Commons, Question Period, Invitations, Elections, Political Parties, Leadership Convention (vol. 56 to 57), the Liberal Party of Canada - by province (vol. 57 to 58), and Government Departments and Agencies (vol. 58 to 67). The files on political topics form the most notable and nationally significant portion of this part of the series. (Researchers should see volume 70 for further material on the Leadership campaign.).

The final portion of the series contains Job Creation Project files in volumes 68 to 69.
