Series consists of records that relate to William Dodge's duties as Ombudsman for the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), a position he held from 1975-1983.

The files in this series document the role and powers of the Ombudsman; disputes and cases heard in adjudication; disputes handled through correspondence; and disputes that fell outside the jurisdiction of the Ombudsman. The disputes involved unions and labour organizations including the Grain Workers Union Local 333 (Vancouver, British Columbia), B.C. Ferry and Marine Workers Union, Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE), Moose Jaw and District Labour Council, and Sudbury and District Labour Council.

Series also includes files on a report by Dodge on the Hotel and Restaurant Employees' and Bartenders' International Union; this case came to his attention while he was ombudsman, but fell outside the terms of the office.

Records include reports, exhibits, legal documents, by-laws, agreements, notes, correspondence and other documents.

Series also includes a maquette, an artist's model in the form of a freestanding poster, used to prepare the full-size backdrop for the stage of the 1961 New Democratic Party founding convention. This item was prepared by Harry Kelman of Ottawa, Ontario, Art Director for the CLC.
