Series consists of correspondence from writers and others received by Almond while he was a student at Oxford and editor of Isis, relating to his involvement with the Poetry Society and to his own efforts at writing. Prominent among the correspondents are Joyce Carey, Christopher Isherwood, Cecil Day Lewis, Sean O'Casey and Stephen Spender. There are also letters from Canadian poet Patrick Anderson and Canadian editor John Sutherland. Other correspondents include John Bowen, Paul Dehn, John B. Donne, Ronald Duncan, John Hayward, John Heath-Stubbs, Grover Jacoby, John Lehmann, H. MacNeice, John Pudney, Keidrych Rhys, Anne Ridler, Martin Seymour-Smith, Henry Treece and John Waller.

Some of the correspondence is filed in miscellaneous files including Almond's own files "Special Friends" and "Miscellaneous Girls", and files created at the National Archives: "Isis Editors", "Poets and Editors", and "Theatre".
