The International Peasants' Council, founded in Moscow in October 1923, was the result of an initiative of the Comintern to organize small farmers, peasants, and landless agricultural workers, so that their organizations could be integrated into all CPs in countries where such occupations were numerous. It was also designed as a foil to the International Union of Peasants, founded in Prague in 1921, to co-ordinate and promote the needs of European peasants. The organization had little success in uniting agrarian organizations under Comintern control, and thus was dissolved in 1933.

This series consists of correspondence, conference proceedings, reports and near-print material reflecting the CPC's efforts to organize in the Canadian agricultural sector, to establish institutional links with farmers' movements and organizations.
