Series consists of predominantly minutes of meetings of the Board of Directors of the Society for Art Publications with related correspondence and memoranda. Included, as well, are papers of incorporation from 1952, a copy of their charter, Memorandum of Agreement and early tax filings; nomination lists for new officers and biographies of members; Chairman's reports; and incoming and outgoing correspondence of S.A.P.'s various boards and Canadian Art/artscanada editors.

The majority of material dates 1977-1981, documenting the financial instability of artscanada during that period and S.A.P.'s efforts to correct it. Correspondents include Robert Ayre, Donald Buchanan, Harry McCurry, Paul Arthur, Barry Lord, Frederick Eaton, Alan Jarvis, Hugo McPherson, Philip Torno, Arthur Erickson, Gordon Smith, Anne Brodzky, Sidney Wax, Gerry Moses and Tony Williams.
