Men and women in suits and dresses mingle and seat themselves in rows of chairs facing a small stage. They listen to several people, including NRC president Dr. Larkin Kerwin, give speeches. There is also footage of the film crew recording the event. The longer reel contains footage of a modified de Havilland Canada DHC-5 Buffalo airplane landing, taxiing, and being worked on by a number of people at the Uplands airport in Ottawa. The plane's tail has an image of a Canadian flag, a NASA logo, and a National Aeronautical Establishment (NAE) logo.
