Series consists of documents reflecting Evelyn Cherry's attempts to produce a filmography recording the works credited to the Cherrys over their long career in filmmaking, and her concern over the preservation of the films themselves.
Included are film outlines, scripts, manuscript notes, interview transcripts, shot lists and other production lists, correspondence and research materials generated during the production of films listed in a filmography prepared by Evelyn Cherry (containers 1-11, 29; see container 1, file 1 for a copy of the filmography).
The series includes a small amount of additional material received from Evelyn Cherry in 1987 relating to her filmography research. Included are files on the films "Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps in the Field", "The Pony", "Valley Centre", "Jubilee", "Alcohol in My Land", "Ernest Lindner", "Illingworth Kerr", and material on the "Nature's World" series (container 30).
Also received in 1997, from Bill and Laverne Cherry (containers 38-39), are archival notes, biographical information and correspondence related to archives and research, as well as additional files on the films listed in the filmography prepared by Evelyn Cherry. Among these files are ones on "Windbreaks on the Prairies", containing documentation, 1941-1943, including 32 letters from S.C Atkinson of General Films Ltd. who collaborated on the film; a journal (loose pages) kept by Lawrence; letters and telegrams from the National Film Board, including ones from R. Spottiswoode, John Grierson, Ross McLean and D.W. Buchanan; a letter from Alan Beaven of the Canadian Forestry Association; and copies of the Cherrys' replies. Files on "Illingworth Kerr" include correspondence with the artist, transcripts of an interview, and detailed financial records.
