Series consists of diaries and notebooks which contain daily records of the work of Mr. Baird from mountaineering journals of climbing in Scotland and Norway in 1930, experiences on the J.M. Wordie Expedition 1934, daily gold production records at his works in Sierra Leone, records of the British Canadian Arctic Expedition 1936 to 1939, notes on Eastern Arctic settlements 1944, reports on Exercise Lemming, field wireless messages sent on Operation Muskox in 1946, Yukon diary 1948, Baffin Expedition diaries for the glaciological expeditions of 1950 and 1953, Gault House log books 1959 to 1970, records of his Baffin Island expeditions for mountain climbing and tourism 1963, 1965, 1971 to 1974 and 1976. The diaries from 1975 to 1983 are largely personal diaries with some entries by Mrs. Geneva Baird about life at Manotick and at their summer home of Patley near Port Jolie, Quebec. Also includes photographs found in his diaries.
