This sub-series consists of agenda planning diaries, files used in the briefing of the Prime Minister, correspondence, notes, nominal files, subject files, visit and trip files, and summit and conference files.

The agendas, arranged chronologically, contain handwritten notes for appointments and meetings. Files used in the briefing of the Prime Minister are arranged chronologically and include correspondence, memoranda and notes. Correspondence files, arranged chronologically, include chronological replies, memoranda and notes. Files containing notes on discussions, telephone calls and meetings are arranged chronologically within each grouping. These notes were prepared to record information and to serve as a reminder of unfinished business. Nominal files, arranged alphabetically, contain, for example, correspondence, memoranda and notes.

Subject files, arranged alphabetically by subject, include such topics as acid rain, economic summits, communications, fisheries, business, and government policy. Visit and trips files, arranged chronologically within groupings, include visits and trips of the Prime Minister and state visits by foreign dignitaries to Canada. Summits and conferences, arranged alphabetically, include such events as the Bonn Economic Summit and other economic summits, heads of government meetings, First Ministers' meetings, and the Francophone Summit.
