Series consists of subject files, memos, briefing material, and correspondence maintained by Mr. Crosbie's exempt staff (Malcome Rowe, Barbara Lyon, Sally Jorgensen, W.R. Crosbie, James Good, W. Everson, R. Evershed, Ron Bowers, and Alain Bélanger) during Mr. Crosbie's tenure as Minister for International Trade (1988-1991). Each staffer's records consist of subject files arranged in alphabetical order. This series documents the development of trade policy in the context of the FTA, NAFTA, GATT, EIPA and CIDA. While the material deals largely with trade policy and trade issues, other notable events of the time, such as the Gulf Crisis, are also reflected in the papers. There are several blocks of External Affairs memoranda and situation reports dealing with Canada in the context of global developments.
