Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, reports (including draft annual reports of the Board of Trustees of the Maritime Transportation Unions), minutes, directives, notes, press releases and statements (draft and final versions), union election material, magazine articles, scrapbooks of news clippings, articles by Clayton Sinclair on the Seafarers' International Union of Canada from "The Gazette", issues of the SIU of Canada's "Canadian Sailor/Le Marin canadien" and other print matter, collective agreements, arbitration awards and other legal documents, speeches, questionnaires, and other documents relating to the BTMTU, the SIU of Canada, and the other administered unions. Public and media relations constitute a major theme in this series. Sinclair's close working relationship with trustee Charles Millard is evident in the papers. Noteworthy are minutes of SIU of Canada shipboard meetings. The series is arranged into three groups of files: Clayton Sinclair's Numbered Files, n.d., 1954-1980; General Subject Files and Scrapbooks, n.d., 1950-1977; and Oversize Material, 1962-1965.
