This is a program in a 10-part half-hour series described in the braodcasts as a catalogue devoted to the exploration of moving image in the last decade. This program features clips of the following productions: 1. A 1988 videotape by Regina director Geoffrey Yates and writers Richard Truhlar and Steven Smith entitled IN THE CELLS. It combines chanted poetry and images of the chanters; 2. an excerpt from a 1982 film by Toronto filmmaker Barbara Sternberg entitled TRANSITIONS, about being between sleep and being awake; 3. an excerpt from a 1972 animated film by Toronto filmmaker Robert Cowan, entitled ELECTRAMETRIC. Cowan wrote the piano track for this; 4. 1987 video by Jan Peacock, a teacher at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. SIRENSONG uses a multi-layered audio track and various images to portray the myths of the past; 5. 5-minute excerpt of the 3-hour 1988 videotape EXCLUSIVE MEMORY, by Ottawa artist Tom Sherman. He converses with an imaginary robot companion; 6. The 1976 animated film SHADRAC, by California artist Sara Petty. It shows the metamorphosis of various human and animal forms.
