This series brings together a disparate range of documents created or accumulated by many individuals, yet united by their relationship to the campaigns of the Seven Years' War: correspondence, journals, order books and associated documents, plus speeches and biographies. The arrangement may reflect the sequence of their acquisition, for it suggests no plan or organizational structure. The most significant items include James Cook's sailing direction for the St. Lawrence (volume 15), biographies of James Wolfe (volume 14 and 20), General Wolfe's order book, 1748-1759, (volume 23), and the notebooks of Captain Thomas Bell, which contain both his own journals and notes on events of 1753-1759, plus his copy of Wolfe's journal for 13 May to 16 August 1759 (volume 24). This material is available on microfilm reels C-369 and C-370. Certain printed works, transferred to the Archives Library in 1950, are catalogued with the Rare Books collection.

Bell, Thomas, flourished 1750-1764 : Thomas Bell (fl. 1750-1760) had risen to the rank of Captain in the British Army by the time he joined the campaign against Louisbourg. He served as secretary and aide-de-camp to General James Wolfe and escorted the latter's body back to England. Details of his subsequent military career have proven elusive.
