This file contains data collected in the Winter of 1983 during the study of the impact of the Festival du Voyageur on Canadian unity. It attempted to discover the opinions of Winnipeg residents on the subject of Canadian unity and disunity. It attempted to determine whether the preliminary set of factors can provide an explanation of unity; to establish the relative weighting of various factors, particularly for various groups within Canada; to evaluate the effectiveness of various programs; collect information to facilitate the monitoring of changes in these factors and opinions over time.

Each case has five physical records, each 80 columns in length; each case contains information from an initial survey and one of two follow-up surveys. The responses from the Version 1 of the follow-up survey are entered on the 3rd line of the case, the responses from Version 2 are entered on the fourth line. There is no French documentation included. Some phone numbers repeat but these are not duplicate records.
