The water survey of Canada has been collecting and publishing data since 1908. The PEAKS file contains annual maximum instantaneous discharges or water levels from about 1400 gauging stations across Canada. Data are in imperial units. The PEAKS tape consists of 300-character records, each record containing 10 years of data commencing with the beginning of the decade, i.e. the year that has a last digit of 0. Thus each year in a decade has a fixed position on the record. If the decade is incomplete then that part of the record for which there are no data is left blank.
