The water survey of Canada has been collecting and publishing hydrometric data since 1908. The FLOW files contain historical daily, monthly and annual streamflow data from stations across Canada. Data are in imperial units and there are 8 different files where the data are stored by region and are ordered by station number within each region.

The 8 files contain data for approximately 547,000 station-months. Files G0000572_1 and G0000572_2 contain data for the Vancouver region, file G0000752_3 contains data for the Calgary region, file G0000572_4 contains data for Halifax, file G0000572_5 for the Winnipeg region, file G0000572_6 for the Guelph region, file G0000572_7 for the Montreal region and file G0000572 contains data for the Regina region.

All of the data files were migrated from EBCDIC to the ASCII encoding format in 2015.
