This file contains data collected from a survey of packing firms in the beef marketing industry. The data were used for research purposes by the commission of Inquiry into the Marketing of Beef. Data were collected on the following topics: the purchase of live cattle for slaughter; beef shipments made from the plants; the volume, destruction and primary mode of transportation used for shipments of beef; imported beef; the purchase of beef through brokers; and the price setting mechanism.
