Series consists of records of the Annual Media Human Rights Awards which sensitized the communications media to their critical role in shaping public opinion. The League started this annual programme of awards in the early sixties. It was given to members of the press, radio and TV who have energetically and persistently alerted the public to cases of injustice and abuse of rights. Files contain correspondence, media submissions, awards speeches and newsclippings.
Series also consists of The Oil Mighty Dollar Programme. It started with a League developed audio-visual called "The Oil Mighty Dollar" first presented at Exposiac '74 in Montreal. Oil Mighty Dollar Committees were established, and B'nai Brith members volunteered in Toronto and Montreal to monitor, conduct surveys, produce literature and plan policies to conserve energy, particularly oil. Files contain committee meeting notes and audio-visual presentation scripts. The slide and audio portions of the presentation are stored in other divisions of the Archives (see Rev. Roland de Corneille fonds, MG 31, F 16).
In addition, the series consists of Multicultural Programmes-Teacher's Institutes were held in a variety of communities which were designed to encourage understanding among ethnic groups. The files include correspondence, memoranda and outlines for Jewish, Italian, Ukrainian and Black-Canadian programmes.
Also part of this series are Christian-Jewish Dialogues which, pioneered by Roland de Corneille, became a major programme of the LHR. Dialogues were incorporated into university teach-ins, and interfaith luncheon groups. Files contain correspondence, programme outlines and newsbulletins.
Records of Symposiacs (teach-ins) and forums examined important social issues, ranging from the energy crises to Jewish-Christian differences. Included in the series are are correspondence, programme schedules and registration records of the late "sixties" and early "seventies" events.
