This sub-series consists of correspondence from the many cultural, religious and social organizations which sought assistance from the H.A. Massey Estate fund of nearly two million dollars. The fund was established by H.A. Massey to assist those projects which the Estate's executors judged would improve the cultural, social and moral well-being of the citizenry. Originally the fund was to terminate after twenty years, however, the executors decided to continue this work under a new structure, the Massey Foundation established in 1918.

The correspondence is arranged alphabetically by name of correspondent within each year and consists of incoming and outgoing letters. Most correspondence is signed by C.D. Massey as executor and T.E. Robertson, secretary of the Estate. A list of correspondents is available. There is no subject index.
