Series consists of the following: record, ca. 1724, of imports and exports of Newfoundland and Hudson Bay, 1715-1723 (f. 26). Drafts of letters, 1761-1772, written by John Pownall (1720-1795), Secretary to the Board of Trade and Plantations, mainly concerned with the encouragement of colonial produce by means of bounties and the regulation of customs duties, and with the discouragement of colonial manufactures (ff. 126-364). Report of the Board of Trade to the Committee of the Privy Council, 1779, on John Nesbitt's memorial, which had suggested that Newfoundland cod might be exported to France during wartime (ff. 387-390).
