Series consists of manuscript and typescript drafts of Brewster's short stories and novels. The collected short stories include the stories that were published in It's Easy to Fall on the Ice, A House Full of Women and Visitations, and are organized under the title of the publication in which they appeared. The collections of short stories are arranged chronologically with Brewster's two published novels, The Sisters and Junction. At the beginning of the series are some unidentified prose fragments arranged as Miscellaneous Prose, followed by manuscripts and typescripts of uncollected short stories arranged as Uncollected Stories, followed by material relating to an unfinished, unpublished historical novel about the English poet George Crabbe arranged under its title Pageant in August.

Additional material consists of notes for short story Collage and typescript of short story Victorian Interlude.

The series also includes manuscript drafts of the short stories and essays published in The Invention of Truth and Away From Home, as well as typescripts of some uncollected work.
