Sub-sub-series consists of Governor-in-Chief's internal letter books, 1839-1867. The sub-sub-series includes one volume containing copies of military letters, 1862-1867 (volume 8). Each volume is indexed. These entry books record the text of despatches sent by the Governor-in-Chief of the Province of Canada to the British Minister at Washington, to Lieutenant Governors in British North America, to the Commander of the Forces, and to senior government officials. Enclosures are noted but their texts are not included.
