Sub-series consists of letter books recording the texts of despatches sent the Governor of Quebec, and later by the Governor-in-Chief, to Governors and Lieutenant Governors of other colonies in British North America and elsewhere, to the British Minister at Washington, and to senior officials of church and state within the colony. Also included are copies of letters and warrants issued under the seal of the Governor. The letters are arranged chronologically and rudimentary tables of contents or schedules of despatches are found in volumes 6 to 9.
