Sub-series consists of enclosures in despatches sent to the Colonial Office during Sir George Arthur's term as Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada, 1838-1841. The enclosures to despatches sent from him to the Secretary of State were filed separately and now form volumes 1 to 12.

At a later date volume 13, enclosures to despatches, 1861-1869, was added to this series but it has no relation to volumes 1 to 12. Volume 13 includes a wide variety of material received by the Governor-in-Chief and, after Confederation, the Governor General, from colonial officials and committees of the Executive Council, 9 August 1861 to 16 February 1869.

General note:

Arrangement note:

The contents of vol. 13 were added to this sub-series after the arrangement of the contents of vols. 1-12 had been completed. The contents of vol. 13 appear to have no relation to the other records in the sub-series. the CAB RG 7 Shelf List indicates that vol. 13 contains correspondence which the governor received from colonial officials and committees of the Executive Council and not from the Colonial Office.
