Series consists of a letterbook kept by George Allsopp, May 1768 to February 1769 for business and public correspondence, 29 pages.

Series also consists of a letterbook kept by George Allsopp for business and personal correspondence, 1793-1796, including the text of a petition from Quebec merchants to the British Parliament, 1788, concerning trade and letters of Adam Lymburner relating to its presentation, 178 pages.

Originals in volume 1, have been withdrawn from circulation. Researchers must use the photocopies which are provided in volume 2.

General note:

Letterbook kept by George Allsopp, 1768-1769, received in 1984.
Letterbook kept by George Allsopp, 1793-1796, received in 1986 from Dr. Richard J. Storr of Willowdale, Ont., on behalf of Robert A. DeVibliss.

Availability of other formats note:

A photostat copy had been made in 1937 from the original then in the possession of Mr. DeVibliss. This copy was microfilmed in 1970 and is available on reel C-4472. The photostats remain available for research use.
