Series consists of correspondence of James Hargrave, 1821-1861, and his son Joseph James Hargrave, 1867-1886, 0.92 m, volumes 1-20, available on reels C-73 to C-79; letterbooks of James Hargrave, 1826-1858, 0.3 m, volumes 21-26, available on reels C-80 to C-82. The series also contains letters of Letitia Hargrave, 1826-1858, 0.05 m; volume 27, available on reel C-84; miscellaneous correspondence and papers, 1819-1897, including members of the Mactavish family, Sir George Simpson, and Roderick McKenzie, 0.2 m, volumes 28-31, available on reel C-83. Also included is a manuscript of Red River by Joseph James Hargrave, published by John Lovell of Montreal in 1871, 0.03 m, volume 32.
