Series consists of material relating to Clark McDougall including correspondence from him, correspondence about him, interviews, exhibition catalogues, clippings and research material.

Series contains 80 letters from Clark McDougall to Joan Murray and her husband, and occasionally their young daughters, dating from 1976 to 1980. The letters are long and expressive, containing reminiscences, references to his personal life and health, discussions of his painting, commissions, exhibitions, prints and sales. There are photocopies of 8 letters to art dealers including Walter Moos, Jared Sable and Mira Godard as well, which relate to price structuring and reflect McDougall's business relationships. (Included in the papers are transcripts Murray prepared of the correspondence from Clark McDougall).

Series also contains material including Murray's correspondence with other curators about McDougall's work and with his brother after his death. Also included are transcripts of interviews that Murray held with McDougall and that Alvin Balkind of the Vancouver Art Gallery held with McDougall. There are copies of exhibition catalogues and clippings about McDougall's career.
