This series of CAB 23, the 'A' minutes of War Cabinet meetings pertained to secret matters not entered in the ordinary minutes for security reasons. When any portion of a meeting was deemed secret, the number of the main meeting with the suffix 'A' was given to that group of minutes. When restrictions covered the whole of a meeting, those minutes were assigned the number of the preceding meeting, once again with the suffix 'A'. (Volumes 13-16 and 44B). This material is available on microfilm reels B-3843 to B-3844 and B-3853.
