Records relating to several aspects of seigneurial tenure have been brought together to form one series. Documents relating to or accumulated by Commissioners inquiring into the tenure of the seigneurie de Montréal, the establishment of registry offices and the Court of Escheat, 1836, form volume 1. Correspondence and records of the Commissioners appointed to inquire into the seigneurial system and to propose a scheme for the commutation of tenure, 1842-1843, form volumes 2-4. Documents and transcripts of records relating to seigneurial tenure, 1702-1841, form volumes 5-8.

Volumes 9-18 contain entrybooks of correspondence and registers of censitaires and of releases, Minute books of the Commissioners, and a variety of documents accumulated by the Commissioners appointed under the statute 18 Vic., cap. 3 to oversee the commutation of seigneurial tenure. These volumes represent only a small fraction of the Commission's records, the principal series of which is found in RG 19. Reintegration of the records is under consideration.
