Indexes of ratepayers maintained under legislation relating to the Municipalities Fund, 1855-1868 (volumes 1-5), correspondence relating to the distribution of the remaining funds, 1869, (volumes 6-8) and municipal by-laws, 1842-1844 (volumes 9-12) accumulated in the office of the Provincial Secretary form three sub-series here. Volumes 13-14 were reintegrated into series C 1 in 1986.

Records of municipal administration are found in the Upper Canada Sundries (series A 1) and the Provincial Secretary's correspondence (series C 1 and C 4). The relationships between the numbered and unnumbered by-laws in volumes 9-12 and the registers of by-laws, 1842-1846, in RG 1, E 12, volumes 4-6 has yet to be investigated.
