The Provincial Secretary referred petitions and letters to the Inspector General for information and advice. In 1970, correspondence found in RG 19 with Department of Finance records were returned to RG 5 and listed in Finding Aid 498. This series and the need for a finding aid to it have since been virtually eliminated through the reintegration of numbered files with the main series in C 1; transfer of the remaining items to series C 4, to join other unnumbered correspondence of the Inspector General, is under investigation.
