Series consists of commissions as major, 2nd battalion, 84th Regiment, 1777, and as brigadier general and adjutant general of militia in Nova Scotia, 1784, issued in the name of John Small, 2 pages.

Series also consists of a grant of 81, 450 acres in Halifax County (now Hants County), to Lt.-Col. John Small in trust for the officers and men of the 2nd battalion, 84th Regiment, to be divided into 411 lots. The grant was escheated in 1798, with provision made for land to be given the veterans, transcript, 1784, 4 pages.
