This footage begins with the intertitle "The Chuckwagon Race. In this case neither horse nor driver understands what 'free wheeling' means". Another intertitle indicates that footage shows the finals of the chuckwagon race. A man wearing a cowboy hat announces the start of the race from a raised platform. Action of the race cuts periodically back to a shot of him watching. Footage of a crowd in the stands, intercut with scenes of the race. Lettering on the chuckwagons is not fully visible, but includes "Six Mile Coulee", "Frank Steer, Lacombe, Alberta" and "Burns S. Co. Limited". The Burns Co. wagon also has the letters XL and an inverted V over the letters DK as well as a symbol that resembles a swastika. There are more shots of the race and the cheering crowd. Some of the race scenes show a smaller crowd in stands and buildings in the background. The film then switches to scenes of First Nations people in ceremonial dress. The intertitle reads "The village of the three tribes". First Nations people in buckskin and feathered headdresses talk, sing and beat drums. There are some tents in the background. Shots of other First Nations people are identified by the intertitles "The Blackfoot", "The Sarcees" and "The Stonies". The next intertitle, "The race of the three tribes" shows First Nations men in ceremonial dress, racing horses on a track. The audio track includes the sound of a brass band.. 1. This footage has audio and intertitles, which suggests that it was produced in the early 1930s, during the transition of production techniques from silent to sound. The clothing of the spectators also suggests the early 1930s.~2. Missing the head title and there are no production credits.~3. The intertitles are red lettering on a black background.
