Series contains a speech and a copy of orders for troops. The autographed speech of the Duke of Connaught was delivered on the occasion of the re-laying of the cornerstone of the Parliament Buildings at Ottawa, after destruction by fire. The cornerstone was originally laid by the Duke's brother Edward, later King Edward VII, in 1860. Bound volume. Original, 5 pages. There is a typewritten copy of orders for troops taking part in the ceremony. Transcript, 2 pages. Received from the Governor General's secretary in 1916.
