Three items relating to Peguis (ca. 1774-1864), the Saulteaux Indian chief who befriended the Selkirk settlers at the Red River Settlement, including a certificate from [Sir] George Simpson (1792-1860), Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company, to Peguis granting him an annuity, dated 1 January 1835; excerpt from the register of St. John's Anglican Cathedral, Winnipeg, containing the record of the baptism of William King (Peguis), dated 7 February 1838; excerpt from the register of St. Peter's, Dynevor, and St. Clement's, Mapleton, containing the record of the burial of William King (alias Pigwys), by the Venerable James Hunter (1817-1881), and Rev. Abraham Cowley (1816-1887), dated 28 September 1864.
